Introduction to Engineering
The objective of the Intro to Engineering class is to provide a broad overview of the field of engineering and familiarize new students with the major engineering disciplines. The course is divided into four major modules consisting of the following:
- Fundamentals of Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Computer Science/Computer Engineering
Each engineering module consists of lectures complemented by “hands-on” projects. Projects include assembly of circuits, design and development of web home pages, and the design and assembly of bridges. Bridges designed and assembled by the students are submitted for participation in the PACE Bridge Building Contest. Participants in the contest are recognized at the Annual PACE Awards Banquet.
Who It’s For
This class is usually taken by freshmen and sophomores in their first year in PACE.
